The Bandai MGSD ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos is a non-scale premium SD model kit from the Master Grade SD line, based on Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. This kit integrates Master Grade-level engineering into a Super Deformed frame, featuring the iconic Gundam Frame with synchronized hydraulic cylinder movement and extensive articulation throughout the body. It is suitable for beginner to intermediate builders thanks to snap-fit construction and color-separated parts, though the detailed internal frame provides a rewarding challenge. Gundam Barbatos is piloted by Mikazuki Augus and serves as the primary mobile suit of the mercenary group Tekkadan.Key Features SD-Scale Gundam Frame: The Gundam Frame internal structure is fully reproduced at SD scale, with visible mechanical detail and multi-axis articulation in the head, neck, torso, shoulders, elbows, and legs. Precision Clear Parts: The chest, knees, and shoulders feature clear parts with precision-shaped processing that efficiently reflects light, creating a layered multi-depth visual effect over detailed internal components. Real Metallic Gloss Injection: Select armor parts use Real Metallic Gloss Injection material for enhanced metallic luster and premium surface finish straight from the runner. Mace Deployment Gimmick: The mace includes an MGSD-original mechanism where pushing the handle extends the tip and deploys four interlocking blades in synchronized motion. Backpack Weapon Storage: The sword, 300mm smoothbore cannon, and mace can all be mounted on the backpack for a fully armed display. The smoothbore cannon transforms into a stored state by extending the barrel and rotating it 180 degrees. Wide Range Articulation: The torso swings left, right, forward, and backward with synchronized abdominal cylinder movement. Shoulder swing mechanisms, elbow cylinder linkage, and independent knee armor movement allow for dynamic posing including full splits and deep crouches. Articulated Hands: Manipulator hands feature ball-and-socket finger articulation at the knuckle base for expressive weapon-holding poses.
