High Grade 1/144 Gundam

HG models were introduced in 1990. The original kits featured full snap-fit assembly, an articulated internal frame (for the first two kits, which provides a better range of motion and is more poseable), and utilized the molding technique known as System Injection, wherein multiple colors would be cast on the same part. In 1999, the High Grade Universal Century Line was introduced, which collected mobile suits from the Universal Century Timeline. In 2010, the line was expanded to include mobile suits from Future Century, After Colony, After War, Correct Century, and Cosmic Era, and Gundam series that did not fit in those timelines (Like Gundam 00 or Iron-Blooded Orphans) received their own HG lines. In 2015, HG Revive, a subline within the HGUC line was introduced, which gave older HGUC kit redesigns that adhered to modern HG standards in terms of detail and articulation. The High Grade line is not exclusive to Gundam, as other mecha series, such as Mazinger, Kyokai Senki, and Evangelion receiving HG kits of their own. HG Amplified IMGN was a subline introduced in 2022, which redesigned smaller robots with more humanoid porportions.

The RX-79BD-1 Blue Destiny Unit 1 is a variant of the RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam Side Story: The Blue Destiny and was piloted by Yuu Kajima. The Blue Destiny Unit 1 was a modified RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type, with improved generator output and enhanced mobility thanks to the use of magnet coating and added leg verniers. Weapons-wise, it had additional armament in the form of a pair of 60mm chest vulcans and a pair of wire-guided missile launchers on the stomach. It was also equipped with the same 100mm machine gun, beam sabers, and shield as the Gundam Ground Type. The development of the Blue Destiny Unit 1 was led by Dr. Chlust Moses, a researcher from the Principality of Zeon's Flanagan Institute who defected to the Earth Federation, and incorporated the EXAM System, a unique mobile suit operating system that he invented. Originally, the Blue Destiny Unit 1 was based on the RGM-79[G] GM Ground Type. However, as its performance did not meet the demands of the EXAM System, the GM Ground Type's head, which was already installed with the EXAM System, was removed and mounted on a modified chassis based on the Gundam Ground Type. The EXAM System was designed to draw out a mobile suit's full potential for a limited time. However, it was highly unstable, and prone to going berserk, attacking friends and foes alike. Federation mechanic Alph Kamra later installed a limiter on the Unit 1, limiting the EXAM System's output at 50% to prevent it from going berserk. The output can be raised to 100% when necessary, but this can only be sustained for 5 minutes before the machine overheats.

Like the GAT-X105+AQM/E-X01 Aile Strike Gundam, equipping the MBF-02 Strike Rouge with the AQM/E-X01 Aile Striker pack improves the MS' speed and maneuverability. Aile Strike Rouge is the most commonly seen form of Strike Rouge, and is armed with two head-mounted CIWS guns, two combat knives, a beam rifle, a shield and a pair of beam sabers stored on the Aile Striker.Though never stated, it seems the Aile Striker pack for the Strike Rouge was upgraded by the Orb Union between the end of the first war and the second war. The original Aile Striker pack did not have full flight capability in the atmosphere, but during the second war, the Aile Strike Rouge was able to fly in Earth's atmosphere alongside the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam on several occasions.

The MS-06R-1A Zaku II High Mobility Type is a mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin. The Principality of Zeon's Black Tri-Stars used them during the One Year War. When the mass production system of the highly versatile C Type was refined in anticipation of the war of independence, the Principality forces began developing MS-06 Zaku II types adapted for local warfare, which were specialized for particular combat situations. The first of these to be completed was the MS-06R-1A Zaku II High Mobility Type. In this machine, versatility was abandoned, and improvements were made to increase its mobility for combat in outer space. Its large backpack was fitted with an extra propellant tank, which could hold a greater supply of quickly consumed propellant. Three large acceleration thrusters were added to each leg to further boost its mobility.

The EMS-10 Zudah was a prototype Mobile Suit developed by Zimmad for the Principality of Zeon before the One Year War. It appears in the OVA series Mobile Suit Gundam MS IGLOO. During the Principality of Zeon's race to develop a superior fighting machine, four prototype mobile suits were developed from different engineering companies: one of these was Zimmad's EMS-04 Zudah. It had a good power plant with unprecedented thrust and acceleration. It also adopted a prototype engine known as the Jupiter engine which was based on Zimmad's prototype Mercury engine. However, the suit did have limits: if the engines were overexerted, the suit would overload and break apart. Zeonic Company used this information to outdo the Zudah with their well-known YMS-05 Zaku and successfully marketed the Zaku series. This, however, was not the end of the story. The Zudah was resurrected under the model number EMS-10, with some minor improvements and cosmetic differences. Its left shoulder was refitted with a movable shield that could be swung to the back, and it was equipped with spikes for melee combat. The EMS-10 was said to be fitted with the improved "Saturn" engine, previously used on the MS-09R Rick Dom (though whether this is true or merely propaganda is unknown). A number of new weapons were also added, including all of the existing Zaku weapons, as well as a new 135mm anti-ship rifle. However, despite these improvements, the suit was still prone to breaking apart from overexertion.

The Strike Rouge was originally intended to be equipped with the P202QX Integrated Weapons Striker Pack (IWSP). However, this plan was dropped as the control system was too complex for the mobile suit's pilot, Cagalli Yula Athha. The IWSP combines the primary characteristics of the Aile, Sword, and Launcher Striker Packs, allowing the Strike Rogue to handle different combat situations with one set of equipment. The IWSP also grants atmospheric flight capability. As the Strike Rouge IWSP has no ranged beam weapon, it can be equipped with the Strike Rogue's beam rifle if necessary. The IWSP was initially developed by the PMP Company, but its development stopped due to energy issues. Orb's Morgenroete Inc. later acquired one of the prototypes and solved the energy issue using their superior battery technology.

The Gundam Gremory's most notably feature is that its upper body, including the movable hood that covers it head, is armored with the Nanolaminate Coat, which is stronger than Nanolaminate Armor. The Gundam Gremory utilizes the Nanolaminate Coat's astounding shock resistance capabilities to take on blows from the enemy and perform counterattacks. This material also grants the Gundam Gremory with the highest defensive power among all mobile suits, enabling it to fight and survive the Calamity War that took place over 300 years ago.The Gundam Gremory is an extremely versatile unit that can lead battles, perform reconnaissance, and undergo solo operations due to its exquisite defensive abilities. Its head is similar to the other Gundam Frames, with twin eyes and antennae, but is rarely seen as it is often covered by the hood. The hood can flip to the back to expose the head, while the armor on the back of each forearm can flip forward when needed. The Gundam Gremory wields an anchor-shaped weapon named the Battle Anchor, but one of its blades was damaged during the Calamity War. As such, the weapon now resembles a massive scythe, and together with the Gundam Gremory's hooded appearance, this mobile suit evokes the image of the Grim Reaper.

It was originally piloted by Agnika Kaieru, and more than 300 years later by McGillis Fareed. During the Calamity War, a quarter of the human population was lost due to the extensive fighting against the mobile armors, which had been developed for the efficient extermination of human beings. To stop these mobile armors, the Alaya-Vijnana System, which establishes compatibility between a person and a machine, was employed. During this process, 72 Gundam Frames were produced, and they came to be perceived as special due to the outstanding military achievement of Agnika Kaieru, who piloted the first Gundam Frame, the Gundam Bael.Compared to subsequent Gundam Frames, the Gundam Bael is a relatively standard unit with little special features. However, it was a key mobile suit in ending the war and became a figurehead of the Gjallarhorn. Thus, Agnika and Gundam Bael were idolized during those times. Gundam Bael's main armaments consisted only of two swords, and this was proof that Agnika was fully compatible with the mobile suit via the Alaya-Vijnana System. For Agnika, who realized superhuman reactions, no other armament was better than these unbreakable swords. Agnika passed away as the Gundam Bael went to sleep, and it was believed his soul resided within the Gundam Bael. The Gundam Bael was stored in the Gjallarhorn's headquarters, Vingolf, until it was awakened by McGillis Fareed. The mobile suit remained unchanged during its long slumber, so its frame structure, as well as its armaments, are as they were when Agnika was the pilot. The emblem on its left shoulder is a symbol of the Gjallarhorn at the time of the organization's formation.

The ASW-G-08 Gundam Barbatos is the main mobile suit in the first season of the Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS anime and is piloted by Mikazuki Augus. The Gundam Barbatos is one of 72 "Gundam" frames that was produced and used in the Calamity War, roughly 300 years ago. After it was recovered, Chryse Guard Security used it as a power reactor. Aside from the fact that its Ahab Reactors were still functional, this was done mainly because Barbatos' cockpit was missing when it was found. A new cockpit similar to the one used by the CGS mobile workers was installed prior to its redeployment by the 3rd Group. Poor maintenance over the centuries since the Calamity War has degraded the Barbatos' armor and full combat potential. This is later rectified by Teiwaz technicians, who not only restored the Barbatos to its original look but also returned it back to a performance close to its original.Gundam units like the Barbatos are able to achieve a high energy output because they possess two Ahab Reactors. However because it is difficult to run them in parallel operation, only a total of 72 Gundam frames were ever produced. The burden experienced by the pilot is high as a result of the high output and maneuverability; however it's mitigated by the implementation of Inertial Control due to the use of Ahab Particles generated from the reactor when a phase transition occurs inside its vacuum device. The cockpit structure is positioned in front of the reactor to take advantage of this. Among the same frame machines, Barbatos has been adjusted for an emphasis on versatility, it has the potential to adapt to every circumstances by exchanging its equipment. It can also use weapons and armor from defeated enemies to improve its fighting capabilities.

The MSM-03 Gogg is an amphibious mobile suit introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam. The Principality of Zeon had developed the ground use MS-09 Dom, but its nuclear reactor's output was insufficient for powering mega particle cannons/guns. Increasing the reactor output would require better cooling capacity, and the most efficient method was water cooling. Therefore, in November U.C. 0078, the MIP and Zimmad received orders to develop amphibious MS which can use seawater for cooling. In addition to the use of mega particle weapons, the amphibious MS can reach its destination by traveling through the sea on its own, allowing it to fight in areas away from Zeon's frontline bases. To reduce water resistance, the Gogg's head became a rounded streamline shape, the MS' equipment was internalized, and the limbs can be retracted when cruising underwater. The Gogg has long operating time in water, and relies on thermonuclear hydrojet engines that draw in water, then heat them with the high heat of the reactor to create thrust. When operating on land, cooling water is stored in internal ballast tank, and the mobile suit's operating time is limited to 1–2 hours. This shortened operating time on land is due to reactor cooling limitations. The Gogg is not an agile machine due to its weight, but its pressure-resistant design provides sufficient defense in close combat. The Gogg's design proved marginally successful, and about 300 units were produced according to one source.[1] However, it would be later replaced by more powerful and better designed amphibious mobile suits, such as the MIP's highly successful MSM-07 Z'Gok. Despite this, the Gogg served as a base design from which almost all other underwater combat mobile suits were derived.

The RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type is a limited production mobile suit introduced in the Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team OVA. The Gundam Ground Type was one of the early prototypes for the Earth Federation's mobile suit mass production plan, produced in limited numbers before the recovery of the RX-78-2 Gundam's combat data. As its name suggests, it was designed solely for ground combat, and all space-use equipment, as well as the Core Block System, were omitted. This caused the Gundam Ground Type to be lighter, allowing it to rival the performance of the RX-78 while under gravity. In order to save time and cost, the RX-79[G] was constructed using surplus parts for the RX-78. Since the quality of these parts varied greatly, differences in performance became a problem, so a limiter was added in order to ensure stable performance. This limiter can be disengaged, activating a state known as "MAX mode", greatly increasing performance. However, due to the heavy burden placed on the unit, this mode can only be activated for a limited time.Compared to the RX-78, the RX-79[G] featured many design changes. The head-mounted Vulcan guns were omitted in favor of the ability to mount various optional equipment to adapt to different situations, such as extra antennae for long-range communication or a Vulcan pod for enhanced close combat ability. An extendable snorkel camera for enemy searching was mounted on the left side of the head. The beam saber racks were moved from the backpack to the legs, and were changed to an enclosed type to prevent dust from entering. A Vulcan gun and a multi-launcher were mounted on the left side of the chest. Its backpack was designed to mount various equipment, such as a weapon container for carrying various handheld weapons or a parachute pack. The Gundam Ground Type was capable of using beam rifle. However, only a small number of beam rifles were manufactured for it, and few units were equipped with it. As such, its primary ranged weapons were physical projectile weapons, such as the 100mm machine gun and the 180mm cannon. Two spare magazines for the machine gun can be mounted on the side armor on the waist. As the RX-79[G] was built out of surplus parts for the RX-78, replacements parts were very limited, and many bases were forced to perform field repairs on their units using parts from other mobile suits, creating many custom type units. One such example was the unit piloted by Karen Joshua, which had its head replaced with the head of an RGM-79[G] GM Ground Type.

The OZ-06MS Leo is a mass-produced general purpose mobile suit introduced in the TV anime Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. The OZ-06MS Leo was the first mass-produced MS developed by OZ, based on the blueprints of the first combat MS in A.C. history, the "OZ-00MS Tallgeese". The engineer in charge of the development was OZ's Seis Clark. Unlike the Tallgeese, which was so focused on performance that its design disregarded safety and could not be piloted by ordinary people, the Leo was designed to be piloted by normal soldiers, and focused on ease of production and versatility. This was also due to OZ and the United Earth Sphere Alliance (UESA) being at odds with the space colonies at the time of its development, and priority was placed on production and its role as a threatening machine rather than excessive performance. As a result, it was simplified and downsized to a level where it could be mass-produced. The back, front and rear of both shoulders, and the sides of the thighs have mechanisms for attaching optional equipment, and by changing its equipment, the Leo can respond to a variety of battlefields. In addition, a performance index for mobile suit, the "Ability Level", was established by setting each of the Leo's performance values at 100 and evaluating the performance of other machines against them.

MD-0031UL Dilanza Sol (ディランザ・ソル Diranza Soru?) is a mobile suit introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury. The Dilanzas used at the Asticassia School of Technology follow the school's regulations. As such, these units have limiters that decrease 30% of their energy output. The Dilanza Sol, on the other hand, has no such restrictions and functions as a true combat-ready mobile suit. Its armaments and equipment are also modified to have a higher performance that the standard Dilanza simply cannot match. With a simple removal of its limiters, the Dilanza Sol fulfils its true power without any large-scale overhauls. In other words, all Dilanza units have the potential to be a fully combat-ready mobile suit. Its shoulder-mounted shields are thicker than the Dilanza's providing greater protection. The head unit also contains a military-grade radar system.

F/D-19 Zowort (ザウォート Zauōto?) is a mobile suit introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam the Witch from Mercury .An all-purpose mass production unit manufactured by Peil Technologies, known for their prowess at developing airborne mobile suits. Despite its massive upper body, the Zowort could achieve flight without the aid of an additional flight unit thanks to the lightweight chassis, and the triangular thrusters mounted on its back and legs. The Zowort was primarily developed using aeronautics as a basis. It was built with mid to long-range combat in mind. However, it did not have any defensive armaments, which was why pilots assigned to Zoworts were often instructed to engage enemies at a distance and try to evade incoming attacks. Still, there are some pilots who squeeze out all the unit's potential and get in close during combat .

The RX-78-01[N] Gundam Local Type (North American Type) (RX-78-01[N] 局地型ガンダム(北米戦仕様) Kyokuchi-gata Gandamu (Hokubei-sen Shiyō)?) , also known as the RX-78[N] Black Local Type Gundam (RX-78[N] 黒い局地型ガンダム?) , is a prototype mobile suit introduced in the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin MSD: Cucuruz Doan's Island manga. Before the One Year War broke out, the Earth Federation Forces promoted the "RX Plan" with the RX-78-01[N] Gundam Local Type, a prototype machine for environmental testing on Earth. During ground testing, the yellow colored unit was fitted with a Shoulder Cannon-equipped backpack. During offshore testing, the suit was retrofitted with underwater equipment and painted in a white and blue color scheme. In the MSD files, a black "unidentified unit" similar to the Gundam Local Type was encountered by Principality of Zeon forces.
