Infinite Dimension, Infinite Nova, IN ERA+ - Same Brand? Here's How It All Connects

If you've been shopping for third-party mecha model kits, chances are something from this lineup already has your attention - the Nemesis and its absurd weapon loadout, or the 1/72 Fenrir that dwarfs everything else in the catalog. But the moment you try to figure out who actually makes these kits, it gets confusing fast. Infinite Dimension? Infinite Nova? IN ERA+? Three names, and nobody explaining the difference.

Then there are the acronyms - PMD, RMD, UMD - stamped on the box art like a pop quiz nobody studied for. Here's how it all connects.

Infinite Dimension: The Design House With a Decade of GK Roots

Infinite Dimension (无限维度) is a Chinese design studio that's been around since roughly 2014. But for most of that time, they weren't making the snap-fit plastic model kits you see on shelves today. They were making GK kits - garage kits - which are high-end resin conversion kits designed to replace or enhance the external armor on existing Gundam MG frames.

GK work is a different world from mass-produced model kits. Tolerances are tighter, surface detail is sharper, and the design sensibility skews toward aggressive, detail-dense sculpting that makes a standard MG frame look like a rough draft. The skill required to design at that level doesn't appear overnight.

And that's where it gets interesting. Infinite Dimension isn't just any GK studio. In the Chinese hobby community, it's widely regarded as the origin point for an entire family tree of high-end GK brands. YuJiao Land (育胶乐园) and Fortune Meow (财喵喵/CaiMiaoMiao) - two of the most respected GK names active today - both trace their design lineage back to Infinite Dimension's original team. The details of who left when and why are a story for another day, but the short version is: Infinite Dimension came first, and its designers went on to shape the broader GK landscape. All three brands now operate independently, but the shared DNA is unmistakable.

The design language carries through everything they make. Sharp panel lines, aggressive silhouettes, armor layered three panels deep, and a philosophy best described as "more detail is always the answer." If you've ever picked up an Infinite Dimension kit and thought "this level of detail rivals a GK," you're not imagining things.

From GK Studio to Model Kit Brand: Genesis and Nemesis

In 2022, Infinite Dimension made the jump from GK to original injection-molded model kits. Important distinction: these first releases carry the Infinite Dimension name directly, not the Infinite Nova / IN ERA+ branding that came later.

Genesis (创世) - Infinite Dimension's debut injection-molded kit. 1/100 scale, transformable design available in both a standard plastic version and a deluxe edition with alloy joints. Full internal frame, strong color separation, and a Z Gundam-style fold-down transformation that actually works. The trade-offs were typical first-kit issues: waist mobility gets choked by the armor, some gate marks land in awkward spots, and shoulder joints on the alloy version can be finicky. But as a statement of intent, it worked. This was clearly a studio that knew how to design.

Nemesis (复仇女神) - Infinite Dimension's 10th anniversary showpiece, released in early 2025. 1/100 scale, standing about 22cm to the head (27cm with the backpack). Multi-layered internal frame, extensive pre-painted parts, and under-gate runner design throughout. Comes with 12 modular weapons configurable as a wing assembly or cape-like spread, plus a display base with articulated mechanical arms and a weapon rack. The sheer amount of detail packed into this kit is hard to overstate. Worth noting: POM joints are tight out of the box, but the kit is back-heavy with all equipment attached and benefits from the included stand. The oversized shoulder armor does limit arm posing range, so plan your display pose accordingly. Infinite Dimension has recently announced the discontinuation of the Nemesis.

A third kit, the Crimson Sky Battle Armor - Kai (铠 - 绛天战甲), was announced in April 2026 as a collaboration with Animester. More on that as details emerge.

Two kits released, a third on the way. That's the Infinite Dimension injection-molded catalog so far. Which raises an obvious question: where did all the other kits come from?

Enter SNAA: How Infinite Nova Was Born

On January 1, 2023, a new brand was announced: IN ERA+. The Chinese name was 无限新星, which translates literally to "Infinite Nova" - and the name is the origin story in two words. 无限 (Infinite) comes from Infinite Dimension. 新星 (Nova, literally "new star") comes from Supernova, which is SNAA's original Chinese brand name. You'll see "Infinite Nova" used in English-language listings, but IN ERA+ is the official English name that appears on the box.

Infinite Dimension handles the design work. SNAA handles the engineering and manufacturing. IN ERA+ is the label that goes on the box.

Infinite Dimension brings the design chops - a decade of GK work that shows in every panel line and armor layer. SNAA brings production, but also ideas, marketing, and the commercial push that's helped IN ERA+ gain traction as quickly as it has. Neither side would have built this lineup the same way alone. It's a win for both companies, and a win for us as builders.

They are not the same company. They are close collaborators operating under a shared product line. If you see "Infinite Dimension," "Infinite Nova," and "IN ERA+" on the same product listing, that's not three brands fighting over credit - it's the ecosystem working as intended.

The Trademark Drama (Yes, Really)

This part is hard to make up. In early 2025, the Chinese trademark for the brand's original name was squatted - registered by an unrelated third party. Rather than fight it out in trademark court, the brand simply renamed its Chinese identity. The English name IN ERA+ and the logo stayed the same. The product didn't change. Someone just got to the trademark office first.

PMD, RMD, UMD: What the Acronyms Actually Mean

If you're coming from Gunpla, think about how Bandai uses MG, FM, and RE/100. All three are 1/100 scale, but they represent completely different approaches to what goes inside the box. Infinite Nova does the same thing with PMD, RMD, and UMD - different design philosophies applied to the same product line. The labels are on every box, but they're never clearly explained.

Infinite Nova organizes its kits into these three product series. They're not quality tiers - none of them is "the cheap line." They're design approaches.

PMD - Pre-assembled Metal/Diecast Framework

PMD is the premium tier in terms of materials. These kits come with a pre-assembled alloy (die-cast metal) skeleton that forms the core structure. You're building the external armor and weapons onto an already-constructed metal frame.

What this means in practice: the finished kit has real heft to it. The metal frame provides rigid joint retention and a satisfying weight that plastic-only frames can't match. The trade-off is that PMD kits are the most expensive in the lineup, and the pre-built frame means you skip the internal construction process that some builders live for.

PMD kits are for builders who prioritize the finished display piece - the weight in your hand, the firmness of every joint, the "this thing costs what it costs for a reason" factor.

RMD - Real Mechanical Design

RMD is where Infinite Nova found its identity. These kits feature a full, buildable internal mechanical frame - you construct the skeleton yourself, then layer the armor on top. The emphasis is on realistic mechanical engineering: complete inner structures with visible detail, functional-looking joints, and a build process that keeps giving you things to look at as you go deeper.

RMD kits are the most popular line for a reason. They deliver the full model kit experience - frame construction, armor layering, weapon assembly - at a price point that doesn't require justification to anyone. The Thunderbolt, the first RMD release, is widely considered the kit that put Infinite Nova on the map.

One thing to be aware of with RMD kits: the plastic material used is slightly softer than what you might be used to from other brands. Joints can loosen over time, particularly on heavier builds. A display stand is a good investment for long-term display.

UMD - Ultimate Minutia Design

UMD takes the opposite approach from RMD. Instead of investing engineering into a complex internal skeleton, UMD kits simplify the frame and pour all their resources into external surface detail. If you're familiar with Bandai's Full Mechanics line - where the focus is on the finished look rather than the inner workings - UMD follows a similar philosophy.

UMD kits build faster than PMD or RMD kits, cost less, and still deliver the sharp panel lines and aggressive styling that define the Infinite Dimension design language.

Every Kit Released So Far

Here's the complete Infinite Nova / IN ERA+ lineup as of mid-2026, organized by product series.

PMD Series (Alloy Frame)

Ruling (裁决) - The first Infinite Nova release. 1/100 scale, heavy-firepower design with openable missile bays in the chest and shoulders, two back-mounted cannons, and a modular weapon system that lets you combine armaments into different configurations. The alloy frame gives it serious shelf presence. Released in the original colorway and a New Year Edition in white with metallic green accents.

Aurora (曙光) - 1/100 scale with a gold alloy frame under white and pre-painted navy blue armor. Comes with a signature lance weapon that splits apart, beam boomerang, and beam daggers. The white-over-navy with gold frame underneath is a sharp combination. The oversized shoulder armor can block the head from certain angles, and the knee/ankle structure limits leg poses.

RMD Series (Full Mechanical Frame)

Thunderbolt (雷霆) - The turning point. 1/100 scale, and the first kit to really establish Infinite Nova's own visual identity instead of leaning on familiar design cues. Features a complete buildable inner frame, a signature oversized backpack, and an asymmetric color scheme that some people love and some people don't - but nobody calls boring. High detail density, crisp panel lines, good build experience. The plastic material is slightly softer than some other brands, so joints may loosen over time.

Thunderbolt 2.0 Manta Ray Version (雷霆2.0 魔鬼鱼) - Built on the Thunderbolt's base mecha design, but with a completely redesigned equipment loadout and color scheme. First showcased on a Chinese model kit variety show (roughly translated as "Make Friends Through Models"), which gave the brand a significant visibility boost. The star is the Manta Ray backpack - a massive 30cm+ equipment module shaped like its namesake, complete with an internal cockpit, propellers, missile bays, and hydraulic arm details. It can be displayed separately or combined with the main body. Black and white body with metallic green accents. The assembly is notably tight - some builders reported breakage on certain parts during construction.

Thunderbolt 2.0 Speed Manta Ray Version (雷霆2.0 极速魔鬼鱼) - A recolor of the Manta Ray version with a different color scheme. Preorder is expected to open soon; anticipated delivery around mid-2026.

Lizard (利扎得) - 1/100 scale, a red heavy-armor design with beast-mecha influences: claw-like extremities, a reptilian head unit, and a signature gatling cannon. Sold in two variants - standard and a limited pre-painted red edition capped at 5,000 units. The pre-painted version had some stress-mark issues on the paint at launch that the manufacturer addressed with replacement parts. Unfortunately, it's no longer being printed.

Fenrir (芬里尔) - The current flagship. This is Infinite Nova's first 1/72 scale kit, standing about 27cm tall - noticeably larger than everything else in the lineup. It comes with pre-assembled skeleton components (not a full alloy frame like PMD, but partially pre-built for structural support). The chest houses a removable core fighter with landing gear, the backpack splits open to reveal a full mechanical bay, and mechanical linkage details with hydraulic rods are present throughout. It's a dense build with a lot to look at, and the articulation holds up. It's the best thing they've made so far.

UMD Series (Detail-Focused)

Trailblazer (先驱) - 1/100 scale, the only UMD release so far. A more compact kit at about 19cm tall, featuring three interchangeable head configurations (different face plates and antenna combinations), funnel-style deployable weapons, and a backpack that serves as the primary play feature. No internal skeleton to build - the simplified frame gets you to the finished product faster, while the surface detail still carries that Infinite Dimension sharpness. This is the most affordable kit in the lineup and the fastest build.

Which One Should You Build First?

This depends entirely on what kind of builder you are.

If you want the full experience and don't mind a long build: The Fenrir is the best kit in the current lineup, full stop. It's the best thing Infinite Nova has put out - the detail, the engineering, the articulation. The 1/72 scale gives the details room to breathe. It's not a beginner kit, but if you have some builds under your belt, this is where to start.

If you want to test the waters without a huge commitment: The Trailblazer is the right call. It's the most affordable kit in the ecosystem, the build is faster than anything in the PMD or RMD lines, and it still delivers the sharp detail that defines the brand. Think of it as the sampler plate.

If you want the premium alloy frame experience: The Ruling New Year Edition is the last PMD colorway available. White colorway, full alloy frame, the complete heavy-firepower loadout.
