DLKHobby 1/100 ZAW-S02 Kingfisher Atmospheric Type

The DLKHobby 1/100 ZAW-S02 Kingfisher Atmospheric Type is the second 1/100 scale mecha model kit in the ZAW Project series, following the ZAW-S01 Ikaruga Universal Space Type. In-universe, the Kingfisher is an atmospheric-operations variant of the Ikaruga, modified for high-mobility flight within planetary atmospheres. The kit retains the multi-layer inner frame design that defined the Ikaruga while introducing a separable backpack that transforms into an independent support craft.

Builder Context

The Kingfisher uses the same multi-layer inner frame construction as the Ikaruga, so builders familiar with that kit will recognize the build sequence. The multi-segment joints and layered frame construction place this kit at an intermediate-to-advanced skill level, comparable in complexity to Bandai MG kits with inner frames. Snap-fit assembly is expected based on the Ikaruga's construction, though cement may be helpful for small thruster and weapon attachment points.
