HeMoXian Model Kit Brand Guide: Who They Are, What They Make, and Where They Came From

HeMoXian (和模线) has been shipping kits since 2023. In that time they've launched two distinct product lines, secured a DC license for an Arkham Knight kit, built a 1/10 scale original mecha universe with cross-compatible parts and proprietary soft-rubber joint technology, and partnered with Earnestcore Craft on a mecha musume line distributed through Kotobukiya.

If you've read our Infinite Dimension brand guide, you know the pattern by now - a Chinese mecha brand shows up with suspiciously polished engineering for something supposedly brand new.

Where HeMoXian Came From

HeMoXian's story doesn't begin in 2022. It begins with Dragon Momoko.

For anyone who was building third-party kits in the early-to-mid 2010s, Dragon Momoko needs no introduction. Founded in Shantou, Guangdong - China's model kit manufacturing capital - Dragon Momoko became one of the most prominent third-party Gundam kit producers in the world. They earned a serious reputation for mold quality and engineering innovation, including early adoption of under-gate runner technology that minimized visible nub marks on finished builds. At their peak, Dragon Momoko kits were considered by many hobbyists to rival official Bandai releases in fit and finish, at a fraction of the price.

The problem was that those kits were unauthorized reproductions of Bandai's intellectual property.

In September 2017, Bandai filed a copyright infringement case in Shanghai. The factory was raided, equipment and inventory were seized, and the founder was arrested. By mid-2018, the founder had been convicted and sentenced to three and a half years in prison along with a fine of approximately 1.9 million CNY (around $285,000 USD at the time). Dragon Momoko was finished.

But the team wasn't.

During the years that followed, team members who were not involved in the legal case pivoted to legitimate, original work. They went on to establish brands like EMODAY - better known in the English-speaking market as Eastern Model or E-Model - (known for original mecha musume designs and licensed Ultraman IP) and SOSKILL (licensed Transformers kits produced in partnership with YoloPark). The manufacturing expertise, mold engineering knowledge, and design talent that had made Dragon Momoko exceptional didn't vanish - it was redirected into fully licensed, fully original products.

Then, around 2022, after the founder had served his sentence and been released, he partnered with the NonZero Studio (零非智造) design team to create something new: HeMoXian.

What HeMoXian Is Today

HeMoXian (和模线) is a Chinese model kit manufacturer based in Guangdong Province, producing 100% original IP mecha model kits. The brand name draws from Chaoshan tea culture - 和 meaning "harmony" and carrying the principle of 和而不同 ("harmony in diversity") - a deliberate signal of moving past the era of bootlegs and knockoffs toward original design, collaboration, and coexistence. There's also a neat double meaning baked in: 和模线 is pronounced identically to 合模线, which is the Chinese term for "mold seam line" on a plastic kit. A model kit brand literally named after a mold line. That's either very on-the-nose or very clever, depending on who you ask.

The company operates as a partnership between HeMoXian (the brand and manufacturer) and NonZero Studio (零非智造), the design and engineering team. You'll see both names on packaging and at retailers, which causes some confusion in the English-speaking market. Here's the simple version: HeMoXian is the brand. NonZero Studio is the design partner. They work together on everything, and the kits are sometimes listed under either name depending on the retailer. If you're ever unsure, check the box - HeMoXian's logo is always on it.

What separates HeMoXian from a lot of newer third-party brands is two things: depth of experience and a genuine commitment to innovation. On the experience side, this is a team with over a decade of hands-on manufacturing knowledge - tooling molds, engineering snap-fit tolerances, developing runner layouts. That shows up in the finished product. Parts fit cleanly. Gate placement is thoughtful. The plastic quality is consistent.

On the innovation side, HeMoXian is doing something most third-party manufacturers aren't. Where the majority of the Chinese mecha kit market still designs within a heavily Gundam-influenced visual language - angular armor, V-fins, beam weapons - HeMoXian has gone in a completely different direction. Their Over Zero line features humanoid cyborg designs with exposed mechanical musculature, integrated companion units, and a grounded sci-fi aesthetic that looks nothing like a mobile suit. Every release introduces something mechanically new: transformable weapon caches, soft-rubber muscle joints, cross-compatible equipment systems. They're not just making kits. They're building a platform.

The Product Lines

HeMoXian doesn't just make random kits. They've built distinct product lines, each with their own identity.

NonZero Studio: Entropy of the Gods

This is where it all started. Thor (NZS-05-3) was HeMoXian's debut kit, released in 2023 at 1/100 scale. It's a heavy fire-support mecha - bulky, imposing, loaded with a giant hammer, hand cannons, and a backpack weapon system. The head unit has a built-in LED for eye illumination, and several runners come partially pre-painted out of the box.

Thor was a statement of intent. It told the market: we're here, we're original, and we know what we're doing with plastic. The kit shipped with under-gate runners throughout - the same technique Dragon Momoko was known for - meaning clean nub removal on nearly every visible surface.

We built Thor here at the shop, and the engineering speaks for itself. The hammer weapon in particular has a clever mechanical inner design - it's not a static accessory. You can push on it and it physically changes shape, which is the kind of gimmick that makes you stop mid-build and just appreciate the thought that went into the tooling. Fittings were great across the board - nothing needed extra force, everything built smoothly, and the joints hold poses without being stiff. It's the kind of build that reminds you these people know what they're doing with plastic.

Over Zero: The Flagship Line

Over Zero (超限零点) is HeMoXian's primary series and the one most English-speaking hobbyists will encounter first. These are 1/10 scale kits - larger than your standard MG Gunpla - built around an original sci-fi universe populated by cybernetically enhanced soldiers called "cyborg operators."

What makes Over Zero interesting beyond the individual kits is the system-level thinking. The characters share a universe with actual lore. The kits are cross-compatible - weapons and equipment from one Over Zero release can be mounted on another. And HeMoXian has developed proprietary soft-rubber joint technology (TPE - thermoplastic elastomer) that simulates muscle deformation in the limb joints, giving the figures a more organic, dynamic feel when posed.

Here's the lineup:

Tastier (UTX-6030) - Released Q2 2024. The first Over Zero kit and the one that put HeMoXian on the international map. Tastier is a military-spec cyborg operative who comes with a mech dog companion, a maintenance base that doubles as a weapon storage rack, pulse rifles, pistols, and a cloak. The maintenance base gimmick is worth highlighting - it unfolds into an integrated display and weapon cache, something you don't see in other model kit lines. The kit stands approximately 19.5 cm assembled and includes LED eye illumination and water-slide decals.

Lone Shadow (NBD-009) - Released Q4 2024. The second Over Zero entry takes a completely different approach. Lone Shadow is a stealth-type ninja cyborg armed with katanas, kunai, shuriken, a snake-bone articulated tube weapon, and lightning effect parts. The full package includes multiple interchangeable head sculpts - masks and face plates that let you build squad variations if you pick up more than one kit. The design language here is distinctly cyber-ninja, with layered armor that emphasizes agility over firepower.

Boxer BAKI - Released Q1 2026. The third Over Zero kit, and the one where HeMoXian's soft-rubber muscle technology really takes center stage. BAKI is a brawler-type cyborg - imagine a cyberpunk prizefighter - with exposed musculature sections rendered in flexible TPE material. The kit includes interchangeable parts that let you build either BAKI or an alternate colorway called NUKES from the same box (though only one complete figure per kit). Accessories include Rock Crack gauntlets, a training robot companion, a champion belt, and a fabric ring outfit with poseable wires built in.

Arkham Knight - Released Q1 2026. This is a big one. HeMoXian secured an official DC license to produce a Batman: Arkham Knight mecha model kit - a fully authorized, commercially licensed product. The kit converts between Arkham Knight and Red Hood (Jason Todd) configurations using dedicated swap parts, with separate blue and red LED units and matching clear armor parts for the helmet. It uses the same soft-rubber muscle joint system as BAKI and includes a modular backpack compatible with the broader Over Zero equipment system. First-batch copies include a randomly packed bonus garment (hooded vest or leather jacket).

One critical detail: the Arkham Knight kit is a one-time production run. Due to the licensing terms, it will not be reprinted after the initial release.

Echoes of Medta

HeMoXian's mecha musume (mecha girl) line operates under the Echoes of Medta (梅德塔残响) banner. The first release is Jiulian (JS-009), a 1/12 scale zombie-themed mecha girl kit that shipped in late 2025. It includes dual body configurations, a chainsaw, clawed weapons, and extensive pre-painted runners for a near-finished appearance straight out of the box. A second Echoes of Medta kit - a Japanese miko (shrine maiden) styled mecha girl - was shown in grey prototype form at the 2026 Beijing Model Show.

Collaborations

HeMoXian has also been building out a growing roster of collaboration projects:

Rosado Project x Earnestcore Craft: Starflower Lily MK3 (RS-03) - A 1/10 scale mecha musume kit co-developed with Earnestcore Craft (核诚治造) and distributed by Kotobukiya. Having Kotobukiya handle distribution is a credibility marker - it means the kit meets Japanese retail quality standards. Starflower Lily features a magnetic part-swapping system, three weapon configuration modes, and heavy pre-painting.

Taiyi Animation: Buffalion - A 1/100 scale zodiac ox-themed mecha with transformable modes, released Q3 2025.

Earnestcore Craft: Ikazuchi - A 1/48 scale kit based on the Knight's & Magic anime IP, featuring a full internal skeleton, multi-layer armor, and LED systems. Expected Q2 2026.

Why the Engineering Is Where It Is

If you've read this far, the thread connecting everything should be clear. HeMoXian didn't appear out of nowhere with polished injection-mold tooling and thoughtful gate placement. The team behind these kits has been engineering plastic model kits for well over a decade. The difference now is that all of that experience - and all of that restless need to push boundaries - is directed toward original intellectual property, in a market that's hungry for fresh mecha outside the Gundam umbrella.

The under-gate runners, the clean snap-fit tolerances, the multi-material construction (ABS for structure, POM for joints, TPE for flexible elements), the integrated LED systems - none of this is accidental. It's the product of a team that learned these techniques through years of hands-on manufacturing and has continued refining them through EMODAY (Eastern Model), SOSKILL, and now HeMoXian. But what really sets HeMoXian apart is that they don't just execute well - they keep inventing new things to execute. The transformable maintenance base on Tastier. The soft-rubber muscle joints on BAKI. The cross-compatible equipment system across the entire Over Zero line. Every release introduces at least one mechanical idea that didn't exist in the previous kit.

HeMoXian currently stands as one of the top manufacturers in China for mecha model kits. Their approach is closest in spirit to what Motor Nuclear does with its own original IP and mythology-driven designs, but HeMoXian occupies a distinctly different aesthetic space - darker, more grounded, more humanoid, with a cyberpunk edge that draws from ninja and military archetypes instead of Chinese folklore. In a market where Gundam influence is still the gravitational center for most brands, that kind of design independence is rare.

Where to Start

If you're looking at HeMoXian for the first time and wondering which kit to pick up, here's how to think about it.

Tastier is the entry point for Over Zero. It's the most straightforward build of the line, comes with the mech dog and maintenance base for strong shelf presence, and at around $75 it's a lot of kit for the money. If you want to understand what HeMoXian is about, start here.

Lone Shadow is for builders who want something that feels different from standard mecha. The ninja aesthetic, the effects parts, the mask options - it's a kit that rewards creative posing. The single-unit version gives you the core figure without the full accessory spread if you want to keep the price down.

Thor is the original. At 1/100 scale it's a different footprint than the Over Zero kits, and its super-robot design language sets it apart from the more grounded cyborg aesthetic of the rest of the line. If you're coming from Gunpla and want something that feels familiar in scale but completely different in design, Thor is a strong pick. Thor at this point is no longer being printed and may be a bit hard to find.
