The GF13-017NJII God Gundam (aka G Gundam, Burning Gundam in the English dub) is the titular Mobile Fighter of Mobile Fighter G Gundam. It was the second Mobile Fighter used by Neo Japan in the 13th Gundam Fight, and is piloted by Domon Kasshu. The successor of the GF13-017NJ Shining Gundam, the God Gundam was developed by Dr. Mikamura almost single-handedly and customized for Domon Kasshu. Even in Normal Mode, its power surpassed that of the Shining Gundam's Super Mode. In addition, it could achieve an even more powerful state called Hyper Mode.Its chest was equipped with the Energy Multiplier System, a unique system that allows energy to be refined in a similar manner to Qi. When piloted by Domon, the King of Heart emblem would appear upon it. It was part of a larger system called the Artificial Aura Generator. The six Core Lander wings on its back (which were named "Dream", "Illusion", "Bubble", "Shadow", "Dew", and "Lightning", after a passage from the Diamond Sutra) and the two short antennas on its head serve as magnetic field generating devices, while the two long antennas function as intelligence-gathering devices. When Hyper Mode is activated, the Energy Multiplier opens up, the six wings deploy, and a ring of light appears on the God Gundam's back, coating it in a magnetic field that improves its mobility through a full-body magnet coating.The God Gundam was armed with a pair of head-mounted vulcan guns, a pair of 3-barrel machine cannons mounted on the upper chest, and a pair of beam swords known as "God Slash". In Hyper Mode, it was capable of using a finisher move known as Bakunetsu God Finger, a refined and more powerful version of Shining Finger. Its forearms were covered in armor known as "G Knuckles" or "God Finger Protectors", which were based on the finishing move of Neo Albania's Gundam Fighter during the 12th Gundam Fight.

The ZGMF-56E2/α Force Impulse Gundam Spec II is a Mobile Suit introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom. It is piloted by Lunamaria Hawke. An upgraded version of the ZGMF-X56S/α Force Impulse Gundam secretly modified by Erica Simmons at the request of Cagalli Yula Athha, the Force Impulse Gundam Spec II features improved battery capacity. It is visually distinguished from the original by a slightly darker and desaturated color scheme, caused by differences in voltage from the new battery on the Variable Phase Shift armor. Otherwise, the Force Impulse Spec II retains all of the capabilities of the original Impulse Gundam.

The GN-0000+GNR-010 00 Raiser (aka 00 Raiser) is the combined form of GN-0000 00 Gundam and GNR-010 0 Raiser in season 2 of Mobile Suit Gundam 00. Setsuna F. Seiei pilots the 00 Gundam and Saji Crossroad pilots the 0 Raiser, however, when combined Setsuna can operate both units himself. Despite its power, the GN-0000 00 Gundam is a highly experimental unit that suffers from power instability issues and so requires constant maintenance and fine-tuning. The Twin Drive System was also a very new technology, requiring the external stabilizing equipment on 00's main support unit, the GNR-010 0 Raiser, to safely execute Trans-Am and fully synchronize the GN Drives. Some data from GN-XXX+GNR-000 Sefer Rasiel was also exploited in its development.When combining is needed, laser guidance sensors would mutually lock onto each other, with a Haro auto-configuring the docking sequence. 0 Raiser's binders detach from the 0 Raiser body and latch onto 00's GN Drives, and its main body combines with the 00 Gundam's backpack, resulting in an angelic-like form. After successful docking, 00 Gundam's system screen(s) reflect the changes to the frame and the Twin Drive's stabilization. Each of 0 Raiser's binders can be mounted with a GN Shield to increase it's defensive capabilities, this form can remain the same even when docked onto 00 Gundam's GN Drive housing units. Without the GN Shields attached, the binders also act as shields themselves, capable of blocking beam shots from GNZ-003 Gadessa's GN Mega Launcher in Trans-Am mode.As the 00 Raiser the Twin Drive reaches 100% synchronization rate, it can achieve GN Particle generation rates far exceeding 300% during Trans-Am(700% during the first dock), and also gains the usage of the Raiser System. These feats allow 00 Raiser to fully harness its massive particle production (too much for the 00's frame to properly handle alone) and perform at peak capacity. While in Trans-Am, 00 Raiser has also been seen utilizing quantum teleportation in a few battles although the specific activation and control mechanism has not been elaborated upon.The Raiser System allows the 00 Raiser to execute powerful attacks such as a massive GN Beam Saber dubbed the "Raiser Sword", allowing for greater close combat abilities, and using Trans-Am mode with even greater power and duration. Originally requiring both of its GN Swords working with the 0 Raiser's binders to produce and control the Raiser Sword, the 00 was later equipped with a GN Sword III. This weapon was capable of harnessing the power of the Raiser System to generate a refined, more controllable version of the Raiser Sword.The power of 00 Raiser is further enhanced with the presence of an Innovator pilot. Once such a being is detected the Twin Drive can execute Trans-Am Burst, a massive flood of purified GN Particles across a massive area. With the Twin Drive's full abilities in constant demand to combat the A-Laws and Innovators, 00 Raiser became the mainstay unit to effectively combat opposing MS. Overall, 00 Raiser is a mobile suit that exceeds the performance of all others, surpassing the very concept of "Gundam".

The GN-001 Gundam Exia (aka Exia, Gundam Seven Swords) is a mobile suit featured in season one of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and is piloted by Setsuna F. Seiei. Specializing in close combat and armed mainly with melee weapons, the Gundam Exia is one of four Gundams deployed in AD 2307 by the paramilitary organization, Celestial Being, to eliminate world conflicts through armed interventions. To fight against the world with their small numbers and win, these Gundams have overwhelming power and equipped with advanced technology a century ahead of its time. Notably, the semi-perpetual GN Drive mounted in the center of the Gundams provide almost limitless energy and generates special, multifunctional GN Particles. The GN Particles grant outstanding mobility, including independent flight capabilities, and are also utilized for beam weaponry, attitude control, and stealth purposes as the discharged particles can cause electromagnetic interference, leaving conventional communication and radar devices useless. The Gundams also share common aspects with conventional mobile suits, such as the use of E-Carbon for its armor material. However, the Gundams' E-Carbon has higher defensive power due to the use of advanced materials.An example of Exia's overwhelming power is that its output was estimated to be about six times that of the SVMS-01 Union Flag, one of the newest conventional mobile suits at the time. The technical hurdles that had to be overcome to create the powerful Gundams and their GN Drives were high, making their production extremely difficult and caused the Gundams' development to occur in phases. The first generation machine, the GN-000 0 Gundam, established the basic system of a mobile suit powered by a GN Drive, and armed with a beam gun and beam saber. Subsequently, four second generation machines were developed with individual capabilities required for armed intervention, and their data served as a basis for the third generation machines, which included Exia and the other three Gundams deployed in the armed interventions. Specifically, Exia was developed from the GNY-001 Gundam Astraea, a general-purpose mobile suit with human-like movability that was used for testing various weapons, and the two machines have a number of similarities in terms of appearance.The Astraea's movability aspect is particularly appropriate for the Exia, which requires the same range of articulations as the human body due to its close combat specialization. Thus, while the Exia is armed mainly with melee weapons, its basic performance remains that of a general-purpose mobile suit. In fact, Exia is the only Gundam deployed for the armed intervention that has a body structure capable of range of articulations like the human body's, and the omission of such a structure in the other three Gundams is simply because they do not require it as their specialization is in other areas. To achieve its wide range of articulations, Exia has the most complex basic frame out of the four Gundams, its armor is also more minutely segmentalized as well. This armor design however causes some internal structures and the joints to be unprotected during certain poses, lowering Exia's defensive capability. On the other hand, this design does provides better mobility, giving Exia the best projectile evasion capability among the four Gundams.The Exia also has finer attitude control capabilities than the other Gundams, which is beneficial for close combat, and this is related to its GN Cables. The GN Cables, also known as “GN Power Lines”, are the light purple-colored cables running through various parts of the Exia's body and also one of its eye-catching visual features. While these cables are also found on other Gundams, the ones extending from the shoulders to the upper arms are unique to Exia. The cables facilitate the supply of tremendous amount of GN Particles, and thus energy, to each part of the Gundam instantaneously. They are also used for attitude control due to the GN Particles' mass reduction effect, and so, the Exia which has more cables on its exterior than the other Gundams is able to achieve finer control. In terms of defense however, such placements are dangerous, and later in GN-001REII Gundam Exia Repair II, the cables become mostly stowed in the armor.The GN Particles' mass reduction effect also lightens the Gundam, and can be used to alter the mass ratio of various body parts. Due to this latter ability, it is possible to freely control the machine's inertia and turning capabilities when in the air, and for Active Mass Balance Auto-Control (AMBAC) when in space. This also eliminates the need for the legs to "walk” when moving. As for the control of GN Particles, it is largely carried out by the two clavicle antennas on the Gundam's torso. A minor role is played by the third generation Gundams' head antenna, which is experimentally equipped with particle control functions. The head antenna also has communications and radar search functions, as well as the black box for quantum communication linkage with Veda (the Celestial Being's quantum computing system). The rest of the Gundams' humanoid head unit also contain systems responsible for controlling the entire body, much like a human's head. On a side note, the Exia's head is designed to look like the helmet of the pilot suit worn by the Gundam Meisters in AD 2307-2308 to express the belief of “Meister = Gundam”.While the GN Drive can produce GN Particles endlessly, even when the Gundams are inactive, there is a limit to the amount that could be instantaneously produced. Thus, continuous or heavy usage of beam weapons and other GN Particles consuming systems might cause the Gundams to run out of particles. To avoid this, the Gundams have GN Condensers in various body parts to store excess GN Particles. For maintenance purposes, the condensers can display the particles' compression rate and the amount stored. During mission, this display function is used for transmitting coded messages to allied units. On the matter of GN Drives, Celestial Being only created five units as that was deemed to be the minimum needed for armed interventions. The low number is not only due to difficulties in manufacturing the GN Drive, which requires Jupiter's high gravity environment, but also because having more GN Drives would increase the risk of them falling into the enemy's hands.The Gundam Exia is nicknamed “Gundam Seven Swords” as its development code was “Seven Swords”, and as indicated by this name, it is equipped with a total of seven blades to meet the needs of the moment during combat. Of these seven, the GN Sword, GN Long Blade, GN Short Blade are physical blades, while the rest are beam-based and consisted of two GN Beam Sabers and two GN Beam Daggers. The GN Sword serves as the primary weapon and due to its low energy consumption, the Exia has an advantage in prolonged combat, which mainly occurs when fighting ace pilots or when subjected to traps such as the three major bloc's joint military exercise. The three physical blades also serve as countermeasures against GN Field, a protective barrier made of GN Particles. In other words, Exia is also intended to fight against Gundam/GN Drive-equipped machine that is piloted by a betrayer or captured by the enemy and used against Celestial Being. Early on, an alternate configuration of the GN-005 Gundam Virtue also had an anti-betrayer role, but its design was dropped and this increased the responsibilities placed on Exia and its Gundam Meister.Other armaments include a GN Shield for defense that also provides protection to the internal structures and joints that might be exposed during movements. The GN Shield is usually in a compact size to maintain Exia's range of articulations, but can expand to increase the defensive area when needed. Similarly, the GN Sword, can fold its blade and has a Rifle Mode for ranged combat. The last of Exia's armament is another ranged weapon in the form of a pair of low-power GN Vulcans mounted in the forearms. During battles, the Exia gloriously sliced through its opponents in close combat, leaving a powerful impression on those who witnessed it and contributing greatly to the instillment of a "fear of Gundams" in the world. This was already anticipated by Celestial Being, and it is because of this that the organization's tactical forecaster, Sumeragi Lee Noriega, selected the Exia to intervene in the AEU-09 AEU Enact's presentation ceremony, which became the unveiling of the paramilitary organization.The Gundam Exia has an "Over Boost Mode" that temporarily boosts its GN Drive's performance and thus increase the mobile suit's capabilities. During an emergency, the Exia can activate a special "Trans-Am System" that enhances its thrust and defensive capabilities, as well as increase its output to three times that of its normal specifications for a limited period of time. This system also causes the Gundam to glow red, but it is a double-edged sword as Exia's performance will drop dramatically once it ends. A number of additional optional equipment was also developed for Exia, such as the high mobility Avalanche Unit and the GNR-001E GN Arms Type-E support machine. When equipped with the Avalanche Unit, the Exia becomes the GN-001/hs-A01 Gundam Avalanche Exia and can speed past specialized high-speed mobile suits, which it normally cannot do despite having remarkable mobility. When docked with the GN Arms Type-E, the Exia becomes the GN-001+GNR-001E GN Armor Type-E, obtaining better mobility, offensive and defensive capabilities.

The MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame is a Mobile Suit in the Gundam SEED Astray series of manga, novels, and photonovel. It is operated by Junk Guild member Lowe Guele. The MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame is one of five identical prototype mobile suits developed by Orb using stolen data from the Earth Alliance's G Project. Its original concept was to be an MS that could be piloted by Naturals, and it was eventually loaded with an incomplete Natural-use OS. Most of the technology from the G Project is successfully copied with the exception of Phase Shift armor. In its place, the Gundam Astrays' designers made the machines out of a lighter foam metal compound, with minimal armor over the frame. This made the mobile suits lighter and faster than their G Project counterparts. All five prototype Gundam Astrays are also designed with a backpack that can be lowered to the back skirt armor, allowing the mounting of additional equipment on the back.

The MBF-P01-Re2AMATU Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina is the renovated form of the late Rondo Gina Sahaku's MBF-P01-ReAMATU Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu from the manga series Gundam SEED Astray. It is mainly piloted by Rondo Mina Sahaku. Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu Mina is the repaired, upgraded version of the MBF-P01-ReAMATU Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatsu. Initially the suit's outward appearance did not differ much from its predecessor, it just has two new weapons: a pair of physical "Totsuka no Tsurugi" sabers stored on the side skirt armors, and a retractable "Tsumuha no Tachi" claw mounted on the left forearm. However, an incident during its operation test led to the suit having additional armor on the legs and new feet.Internally, changes were made to suit Mina's use, and this resulted in approximately 30% improvement in specifications. The Amatsu Mina is capable of atmospheric flight, as evidenced when it was used to defend a town from ZAFT forces (A girl who witnessed the incident described the MS as a "black angel"). However, it is unknown if this is a new ability or inherited from Gold Frame Amatsu as only the incomplete version of Amatsu is ever used on earth.In CE 73, Yoon Sefan developed the "Okitsu no Kagami" equipment to bolster the Amatsu Mina's defensive capability. When equipped, the "Okitsu no Kagami" replaces the claw on the left forearm. The beam shield generated by this new system can also form a beam blade, and can be used to attack enemy units in various ways.

The MS-06 Zaku II (ザク II?) is a line of mobile suits introduced in the Mobile Suit Gundam television series. The successor to the first fielded MS, the MS-05 Zaku I, the Zaku II improved on everything the previous model offered. It was faster, more durable, had a superior reactor, and could be fitted with more weapons. The Zaku II was the mainstay of the Zeon military for most of the One Year War. Even after the MS-09B Dom and MS-09R Rick Dom began to replace it on the front lines, the Zaku II still remained the most numerous mobile suit in Zeon's armed forces. As such, the Zaku II formed the backbone of the Zeon remnants behind Operation Stardust and some were even seen as late as U.C. 0088 in both AEUG and Neo Zeon service during the Gryps Conflict and the First Neo Zeon War. The Zaku II was also a common aggressor unit used during training for Earth Federation Forces pilots.

The MS-06S Zaku II Commander Type is a mobile suit introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam. After repeated engagements since the start of the One Year War, the regular Zaku II had already become insufficient for ace pilots. In order to make effective use of the mobile suit's reserves of power, this mobility-enhanced Zaku II for commanders was hastily developed. The Zaku II Commander Type has an antenna on the head for enhanced communication capabilities and to visually distinguish squad-leaders or higher ranking pilots from other squad-members or lower ranking pilots. Commanders are also allowed to paint their machine in personal colors.It also features a powerplant with higher output that gave the Zaku II Commander Type greater thrust and acceleration. This allows it to move at speeds 30% higher than that of the standard Zaku II. However, since the amount of propellant has not been changed from the standard type, it would naturally run out of propellant quickly when maneuvering at full speed. Despite this limitation, the Zaku II Commander Type proved to be incredibly dangerous in the hands of the ace pilots it was assigned to, such as the "Red Comet" Char Aznable, who sank five Magellan-class battleships in the Battle of Loum.

The MSM-07S Z'Gok Commander Type is a variant of the MSM-07 Z'Gok created by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War.An improved, higher performance model of the Z'Gok, it has higher reactor output, better maneuverability and a change in armor materials. It eventually became the standard Z'Gok model.

The MSN-02 Zeong (ジオング Jiongu) is a prototype mobile suit appearing in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam. It was first piloted by the "Red Comet" Char Aznable. Developed by the Principality of Zeon at the A Baoa Qu space fortress during the One Year War, the Zeong was built exclusively for Newtype pilots. It initially had the model number "MS-16X" and was developed based on the data of multiple experimental units. The Zeong was also the first mobile suit to use the Psycommu system, which allowed a Newtype pilot to utilize its wire-guided remote-controlled forearms for all-range attack effectively. Each forearm was built with five mega particle cannons in its fingers. The Zeong also has three more mega particle cannons on its body, two in the waist and one in the head.The Zeong was expected to be around 35m tall when fully completed, making it much larger than most mobile suits of the time. Its large size was attributed to the difficulties in miniaturizing the Psycommu system. Though another account suggested that it was due to the need for larger generators to power its thirteen mega particle cannons. In the end, this mobile suit was only 80% complete when it was deployed, thus its lack of legs and exposed upper arms. Although the legs would aid in the AMBAC System, their omission did not hinder the Zeong from performing at 100% combat capacity, since two rocket thrusters were installed at where the legs were supposed to be.Although the Zeong was developed for Newtypes, it could also be operated by normal pilots. In this situation, the mobile suit would be controlled by a pilot in the torso cockpit and a gunner in the head cockpit. The two cockpits were connected by a traversal tube. In contrast, a single Newtype pilot could fully operate the Zeong from either one of the cockpits, though due to the mobile suit's prototype nature, its activation and initialization could only be done in the torso cockpit. In order to ensure the recovery of its data and pilot, especially if the pilot was a Newtype, the head also doubled as an escape pod and could detach from the main body when necessary.

The MSN-04 Sazabi is a mobile suit introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. It is piloted by Char Aznable. After Char Aznable returned as the leader of his own Neo Zeon faction in U.C. 0093, he ordered his engineers to create a new mobile suit that would fit his piloting skills and Newtype powers. The result was the MSN-04 Sazabi, which was later built by the Luna-based contractor Anaheim Electronics. With an overall height of 25.6 meters, the Sazabi is much bigger than most standard mobile suits, but thanks to the use of lightweight armor materials and a great number of thrusters it is much faster and more maneuverable than other suits. The suit is armed with an abdomen-mounted scattering mega particle cannon, a beam shot rifle, a pair of beam sabers stored in the arms, and a shield with three missiles as well as a beam tomahawk.Because Char is a Newtype, the Sazabi was also equipped with six funnels which the pilot could control through his psycowaves via a Psycommu system. The Sazabi was also the first MS to be equipped with the revolutionary new psycho frame cockpit. This system featured microscopic psycommu receiver circuits installed throughout a mobile suit's internal frame and cockpit walls. These tiny circuits amplify and transmit a Newtype pilot's psycowaves, enabling the mobile suit to respond instantaneously to mental commands.

The OZ-00MS Tallgeese Flügel is a variation of the OZ-00MS Tallgeese appearing in New Mobile Report Gundam Wing Endless Waltz: The Glory of Losers.The Tallgeese Flugel is a variant of the OZ-00MS Tallgeese created by Mike Howard, who has outfitted it for space use. The original back-mounted thruster units are replaced by four angelic wing binders lined with many thrusters, granting the Tallgeese great speed and manoeuvrability in space. The two larger wings can function as shields when positioned in front of the suit.

The OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon is a mobile suit introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing. Originally piloted by Heero Yuy, it was later given to Zechs Merquise. Based on data from the OZ-00MS Tallgeese and the other Gundams, the Gundam Epyon was created by Treize Khushrenada while he was placed under confinement by the Romefeller Foundation. In keeping with Treize's philosophy, the Epyon eschews cowardly long-range weapons in favor of chivalrous close combat. However, when the suit becomes a part of White Fang, a pair of Vulcan guns are added to the head. Its main weapons are a segmented, whip-like heat rod mounted on a shield and a powerful beam sword whose energy is supplied by a direct connection to the Epyon's generator. Treize also installed a modified version of the Zero System known as Epyon System in the cockpit, making this suit a powerful opponent. The Epyon can also transform into a "mobile armor" mode for high-speed flight and cruising in space. It resembles a mythological dragon in this mode, however, its primary weapons are inaccessible save for the Epyon Claws which are also used as landing gear in this form.Gundam Epyon EW is Hajime Katoki's redesign of Epyon in a similar fashion to other EW version of the first five Gundams and included in New Mobile Report Gundam Wing: Frozen Teardrop as well as Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Endless Waltz: Glory of the Losers. It is later given additional equipment known as 'Sturm Und Drang' that can be used for both defense and offense.

The RX-0[N] Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee Norn (aka Banshee Norn) is an upgraded variant of the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee that appears in the OVA version of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. The unit is piloted by Riddhe Marcenas. The RX-0[N] Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee Norn is an upgraded version of the Banshee with improved performance, assigned to Londo Bell pilot Riddhe Marcenas. The unit itself remains unchanged from the upgrades, with only the Armed Armors BS and VN replaced by two new equipment, the Armed Armor DE and Armed Armor XC. The Banshee Norn's primary ranged weapon is the Beam Magnum but with a new attachment, the Revolving Launcher. In Destroy Mode, the Armed Armor XC opens and rotates up, giving the Banshee Norn a lion-like look.

The RX-178 Gundam Mk-II is a mobile suit introduced in the anime series Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. It is a successor of the famous RX-78-2 Gundam that served in the One Year War. The multiple panels of the panoramic screen make up a single 360-degree display, covering the entire inner surface of the cockpit. The image displayed on this screen is a computer simulation constructed from the cameras distributed around the mobile suit's exterior. The viewpoint is that of the mobile suit's head, and the image is carefully edited to remove the mobile suit itself. The linear seat is suspended in the center of the cockpit, supported by a linear arm which electromagnetically counters G-forces and impact shocks in order to protect the pilot. Together, the panoramic screen and the linear seat gives the pilot a larger field of view and eliminates blind spots.The most notable flaw of the Gundam Mk-II is that it is armored using the obsolete titanium alloy ceramic composite. Another flaw is that the movable frame's leg sections have rigidity issues associated with the strength of the structural material used, and this problem persisted even after six design revisions. Despite this, for a brief time period, the Gundam Mk-II's movable frame makes it one of the most agile mobile suits available. Three Gundam Mk-II were produced in total. The RX-78GP01 Gundam "Zephyranthes" (aka Zephyranthes, GP01, Unit 1) is a prototype general-purpose mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory OVA series. It was piloted by Kou Uraki. As described in the Master Grade model manual and MS Encyclopedia, at the conclusion of the One Year War, the Federation started the Gundam Development Project, aimed at creating mobile suits superior to those that Zeon had developed. The RX-78GP01 Gundam "Zephyranthes" was the second of five prototype Gundam-type mobile suits completed under this plan.The RX-78GP01 was designed to be able to operate under any condition on earth or in space. To that end, its design is superficially similar to the other RX series Gundams. Unlike previous suits, this was one of the first to re-introduce the core fighter concept in its design, utilizing the recently developed FF-XII Core Fighter II as the cockpit. Though the GP01 is operable in both Earth and outer space, it needs to be configured for each environment before battle by using the appropriate Core Fighters. Otherwise, the GP01 will suffer from a lack of balance and become near impossible to pilot.One major innovation in the RX-78GP01's arsenal was the addition of a beam rifle that used a removable energy capacitor called e-pac. Previous beam rifle designs had the energy capacitor integrated into the rifle directly, resulting in the rifle becoming dead weight once the capacitor was depleted. With e-pac, a beam rifle can be used as long as the pilot has a ready supply of replacement e-pacs. The RX-78GP01 has three e-pacs (one mounted on the rifle, two held in reserve on the shield) in its normal deployment configuration.

The RX-78-2 Gundam is the titular mobile suit of Mobile Suit Gundam television series. Part of the RX-78 Gundam series, it was built in secret on Side 7. The Gundam would turn the tide of war in favor of the Earth Federation during the One Year War against the Principality of Zeon. It was primarily piloted by Amuro Ray. The Gundam was incredibly advanced for its time. Built from lightweight Luna Titanium Alloy, its frame was both lighter than that of Zeon's mass-produced mobile suits and much sturdier, able to shrug off a MS-06 Zaku II's machine gun fire with little to no damage. Its offensive power was above and beyond that of the Zakus. The Gundam would engage in most battles with its beam rifle, making it the first mobile suit to have firepower equivalent to a battleship's beam cannons. In addition, it made use of two beam sabers, blades of extremely hot plasma which could cut through any metal with ease. Those beam sabers could be extended into a spear-like beam javelin, which could be used to stab into an enemy from a longer distance.The Gundam also used more conventional weaponry; it could launch rockets with a "Hyper Bazooka", the Federation's answer to the bazookas used by Zeon's Zakus; in addition, its head was outfitted with a pair of small vulcan guns, as a way of attacking light-armored aircraft and vehicles without wasting ammo or energy from its more powerful armaments. It also made use of a very unconventional close-range weapon known as the "Gundam Hammer" - a large weapon similar to a flail which could be swung at enemies to deal crushing damage. The Gundam Hammer was eventually upgraded for use in space and outfitted with a number of verniers on the ball, and renamed to be the "Hyper Hammer". Lastly, it wielded a shield which would offer it a defense against enemy attacks that not even its Luna Titanium body could withstand without damage. Gundam pilot, Amuro Ray, would make use of the shield as a decoy in many battles, taking advantage of its size to fool the enemy into thinking he was charging at them, then attacking the enemy through the shield.In terms of technology, the Gundam was equipped with a sophisticated Learning Computer which would collect pilot and enemy data during skirmishes and allow the Gundam to operate more effectively. The data from the computer was used by the Federation to improve the controls of the Gundam's mass-produced form, the RGM-79 GM. In addition, it was upgraded by Federation technician Mosque Han shortly before the Battle of A Baoa Qu to improve its reaction times, the joints of the Gundam were given a Magnet Coating, based on the experimental procedure performed on the RX-78-3 "G-3" Gundam and later used on Amuro's intended successor unit, the RX-78NT-1 Gundam "Alex".The Gundam makes use of the Core Block System implemented in the other V Project units. The torso of the Gundam is mostly hollow so that a FF-X7 Core Fighter can dock with it. This allows the pilot to jettison the legs and torso of the Gundam should the machine be too heavily damaged and gives the pilot a chance to escape from battle. Later, during Operation Odessa, the Gundam is given a support unit known as the G-Fighter. The two G-Fighters were designed to take advantage of the Gundam's modular system and diversify the Gundam's role in active combat. These modes ranged from the assault bomber G-Armor to the close combat support tank G-Bull. Officially, it is called a prototype, but it is also said to be more of a custom-made machine that is finished with high quality materials and the best technology.
