Master Grade 1/100 Gundam

MG models were first introduced in the summer of 1995, designed and made to higher standards than most other models. These kits take much longer to construct and are often much more expensive than their lower-grade counterparts. More recent Master Grade plastic models typically feature a movable inner frame system that enables extensive movement and bending of joints, as well as including standing and seating miniature figures of the pilots of each Gundam model.

Beginning in 2005 with the Zeta Gundam, Older MG Kits would be redesigned under the Ver.2.0 moniker with features such as a full inner frame. The RX-78-2 Gundam has had multiple MG iterations, including a Ver.1.5 that uses a mix of old and new parts, and Ver.3.0 that is modeled after the life-size statue similar to the Real Grade version of the same robot.

Though the name "Master Grade" is widely known because of Gundam, it is not Gundam exclusive as a few Master Grade offerings have come from mechas in Patlabor and Dunbine. Bandai also released a line featuring a series of character figures from Dragon Ball Z, Kamen Rider, and Tiger & Bunny under the name MG Figurerise.

In 2002, a new line of Master Grade kits subtitled "Ver. Ka" was released, which was Master Grades designed by mecha designer Hajime Katoki. Mobile suits chose to become Ver. Ka kits are chosen by annual fan votes. In 2020 a new line, Master Grade Extreme (abbreviated as MGEX) was redesigned of Master Grades that contained additional gimmicks called "Extreme Points". The first model kit of this line is the Unicorn Gundam Ver. Ka contained a LED light strip that ran across the mobile suit, compared to Individual lights that had to be wired throughout the inner frame.

Bandai

$142.00

The MSA-0011[Ext] Ex-S Gundam (aka Extraordinary-Superior Gundam) is an upgraded version of the MSA-0011 S Gundam that appears in Gundam Sentinel. It is piloted by Ryou Roots. By adding several new armor, weapons, and engine modules the engineers of Task Force Alpha's Pegasus III were able to upgrade the MSA-0011 S Gundam into the Ex-S Gundam. The Ex-S Gundam still had three cockpits, but Ryou Roots was the only person who piloted the mobile suit, and due to Ryou's poor piloting skills, it was up to ALICE, the Ex-S Gundam's highly advanced artificial intelligence combat computer, to do most of the fighting against more skilled opponents. With ALICE functioning as the co-pilot of the Ex-S Gundam, "she" was constantly getting more advanced. ALICE was constantly growing in comprehension and depth, and was swiftly evolving into something more akin to a fully rationalizing and thinking creature than a simple machine. ALICE could take full control of the Ex-S Gundam and its various components and weapons at any time, and would begin to do so constantly at times when "she" felt the Ex-S or Ryou were threatened. ALICE proved to be a useful co-pilot of the Ex-S Gundam, and was more than capable of compensating for Ryou's lack of skill. For defensive purposes, the Ex-S Gundam featured additional armor on the front of the chest which afforded extra protection for the first two cockpits. This extra chest armor also featured an I-Field generator which created an invisible barrier of Minovsky Particles around the Ex-S Gundam's cockpit block, protecting it from ranged beam attacks. Additional armor added onto the front of the torso also protected the third cockpit, while extra armor on both sides of the legs featured more verniers, additional propellant tanks, and thrusters. Two new large thruster units were mounted on the Ex-S Gundam's back, giving it incredible thrust and speed. Two large caliber beam cannons were mounted on both thruster units, giving the Ex-S Gundam two more back beam cannons than the S Gundam. The Ex-S Gundam's beam smart rifle was now attached to the front torso of the mobile suit instead of the hips, making room for the two hip beam cannons that were optional on the S Gundam to be attached to the sides of the Ex-S Gundam's waist permanently. The Ex-S Gundam's head featured four 60mm vulcan guns, while four additional 60mm vulcans were mounted on the tail stabilizer attached to the back. The Ex-S Gundam also had remote weaponry in the form of an INCOM, a small wire-guided red disc stored in the Ex-S Gundam's forehead that could fire beams when deployed. The Ex-S Gundam also featured two reflector INCOMs, stored in the large knee armor, which could be deployed and guided by wire like a standard INCOM. Reflector INCOMs do not fire beams but instead reflect beam fired from the Ex-S Gundam or another unit, and redirect it in another direction. Lastly, for use in melee combat situations, the Ex-S Gundam featured two beam sabers, also stored in the knee armor.Like its predecessor, the Ex-S Gundam was also capable of transforming into a waverider mode of sorts, but unlike the S Gundam, which divided into three separate components, the Ex-S Gundam changes into one large unit called the G-Cruiser. For its size, the G-Cruiser was incredibly fast and used for travelling over a great distance in a short amount of time. To conserve the fuel of the Ex-S Gundam for use in combat situations, the G-Cruiser had two large propellant tanks mounted in the front over the Ex-S Gundam's shoulders. These extra fuel tanks would be jettisoned when the G-Cruiser reaches the battlefield and transforms into the Ex-S Gundam.

The MSM-04 Acguy (アッガイ Aggai?) is an amphibious mobile suit introduced in the anime Mobile Suit Gundam. Following the Zimmad Company's MSM-03 Gogg, the Zeonic Company produced their own amphibious mobile suit for the Principality of Zeon, the MSM-04 Acguy. The Acguy used many of the same parts and components as the MS-06F Zaku II, including two of the Minovsky Ultracompact Fusion Reactors used by the latter. Even with the twin reactors, the Acguy left only a trace heat signature, making it effective for stealth and infiltration operations. It is also one of the tallest amphibious mobile suit used by the Zeon during the war. About 60 units were produced according to some sources. The Acguy's weapons consisted of four 105mm vulcan guns mounted in its unusually large head. In its right forearm was a mega particle gun, but in some units, this was replaced by a vulcan gun. The right forearm also had extendable claws known as Iron Nail (along with an extendable arm to increase striking distance) for striking the Earth Federation's mobile suits and property. In the left forearm was a six-tube missile launcher. Some models also had missile launchers in the right forearm, replacing the mega particle cannon and claws.

MG 1/100 RX-78-2 Gundam (Ver. 1.5)

Bandai

$37.00

The RX-78-2 Gundam is the titular mobile suit of Mobile Suit Gundam television series. Part of the RX-78 Gundam series, it was built in secret on Side 7. The Gundam would turn the tide of war in favor of the Earth Federation during the One Year War against the Principality of Zeon. It was primarily piloted by Amuro Ray. The Gundam was incredibly advanced for its time. Built from lightweight Luna Titanium Alloy, its frame was both lighter than that of Zeon's mass-produced mobile suits and much sturdier, able to shrug off a MS-06 Zaku II's machine gun fire with little to no damage. Its offensive power was above and beyond that of the Zakus. The Gundam would engage in most battles with its beam rifle, making it the first mobile suit to have firepower equivalent to a battleship's beam cannons. In addition, it made use of two beam sabers, blades of extremely hot plasma which could cut through any metal with ease. Those beam sabers could be extended into a spear-like beam javelin, which could be used to stab into an enemy from a longer distance. The Gundam also used more conventional weaponry; it could launch rockets with a "Hyper Bazooka", the Federation's answer to the bazookas used by Zeon's Zakus; in addition, its head was outfitted with a pair of small vulcan guns, as a way of attacking light-armored aircraft and vehicles without wasting ammo or energy from its more powerful armaments. It also made use of a very unconventional close-range weapon known as the "Gundam Hammer" - a large weapon similar to a flail which could be swung at enemies to deal crushing damage. The Gundam Hammer was eventually upgraded for use in space and outfitted with a number of verniers on the ball, and renamed to be the "Hyper Hammer". Lastly, it wielded a shield which would offer it a defense against enemy attacks that not even its Luna Titanium body could withstand without damage. Gundam pilot, Amuro Ray, would make use of the shield as a decoy in many battles, taking advantage of its size to fool the enemy into thinking he was charging at them, then attacking the enemy through the shield. In terms of technology, the Gundam was equipped with a sophisticated Learning Computer which would collect pilot and enemy data during skirmishes and allow the Gundam to operate more effectively. The data from the computer was used by the Federation to improve the controls of the Gundam's mass-produced form, the RGM-79 GM. In addition, it was upgraded by Federation technician Mosque Han shortly before the Battle of A Baoa Qu to improve its reaction times, the joints of the Gundam were given a Magnet Coating, based on the experimental procedure performed on the RX-78-3 "G-3" Gundam and later used on Amuro's intended successor unit, the RX-78NT-1 Gundam "Alex".The Gundam makes use of the Core Block System implemented in the other V Project units. The torso of the Gundam is mostly hollow so that a FF-X7 Core Fighter can dock with it. This allows the pilot to jettison the legs and torso of the Gundam should the machine be too heavily damaged and gives the pilot a chance to escape from battle. Later, during Operation Odessa, the Gundam is given a support unit known as the G-Fighter. The two G-Fighters were designed to take advantage of the Gundam's modular system and diversify the Gundam's role in active combat. These modes ranged from the assault bomber G-Armor to the close combat support tank G-Bull. Officially, it is called a prototype, but it is also said to be more of a custom-made machine that is finished with high quality materials and the best technology.

The MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam was the titular mobile suit of the anime Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. It was also featured in the sequel series Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. Developed as part of Project Zeta, a third generation mobile suit development plan launched by Anaheim Electronics upon request from the AEUG, the Zeta Gundam was a revolutionary Transformable Mobile Suit (TMS). While Anaheim's previous attempt at creating a TMS, the MSN-001 Delta Gundam, failed due to issues with its transformable movable frame, the Zeta Gundam solved this problem by studying the design concept of the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II's movable frame, which had an excellent basic design. In addition, it adopted Gundarium γ alloy armor, previously used on Anaheim's RMS-099 Rick Dias. The Zeta Gundam was capable of transforming into a cruising mode known as "Wave Rider Mode". In this form, the Zeta Gundam adopted a wedge shape, concentrating the shockwave generated by supersonic flight underneath it and riding the resulting wave, hence its name. In this form, it was capable of entering the atmosphere without any optional equipment thanks to the Flying Armor mounted on the movable frame on its back, which protected it from shockwave and heat during atmospheric entry. The Flying Armor was based on data from the support vehicle of the same name, and could be replaced with other equipment, such as the Wing Binders for the Wave Shooter specification. The Wave Rider Mode could also function as a sub-flight system for other mobile suit.Due to the Zeta Gundam's complex transformation mechanism, it was impossible to mount generators in its upper body. Instead, it was equipped with a generator in each shin, a design concept inspired by the RX-78GP01-Fb Gundam "Zephyranthes" Full Burnern. Its legs were also installed with thermonuclear jet/rocket hybrid engines, which were capable of functioning both in space and in the atmosphere, allowing the Zeta Gundam to engage in aerial combat immediately after atmospheric entry. The Zeta Gundam's weapons were highly systematic and presented almost no hindrance when carried. It was armed with a pair of head-mounted vulcan guns, a pair of beam sabers stored in the side skirt armor that served as beam guns in Wave Rider Mode, a pair of forearm-mounted grenade launchers, an E-pac powered beam rifle, a shield attached to the left forearm that served as the Wave Rider Mode's nose unit, and the Hyper Mega Launcher, a powerful beam weapon developed from the MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki's Mega Bazooka Launcher. Thanks to these weapons, it was capable of handling nearly all battlefield situations. Finally, the Zeta Gundam was equipped with the Bio-Sensor, a Quasi-Psycommu device that assisted with the mobile suit's controls using the pilot's brainwaves, improving its responsiveness. Though details about this device was unclear, there were instances of it allowing the Zeta Gundam to demonstrate abilities beyond its specifications during combat. Overall, the Zeta Gundam had exceptionally high operability and was regarded as a masterpiece of the Gryps Conflict era.

An experimental unit equipped with the “Reuse P (Psycho) Device” - a next generation operating system that has the potential to operate a mobile suit's limbs by communicating to the drive system of the mobile suit directly via thoughts. Even individuals with little piloting experience can master the controls in a short period due to this system. Although Ensign Daryl Lorenz is the pilot of the Psycho Zaku and his main mission is to snipe from ultra-long ranges, to pilot the unit, a high proficiency of control is necessary. It is believed that some training time is necessary, however it was pressed into combat so the training was cut extremely short thanks to the device. In order to draw out 100% of its abilities, the pilot must be quadruple amputee to fully interface with the mobile suit.

Wing Zero was based on the Zero Frame technology developed by the five Gundam Scientists, which was an inner frame with all the necessary components for the mobile suit to operate, completely separate from the armor platings and energy conduits for weapons. The performance of the frame itself surpasses that of the OZ-00MS Tallgeese, and the complete separation of armor and internal structure allows Wing Zero to continue fighting after losing up to 90% of its armor.[1]In the Glory of the Losers manga, Wing Zero is developed from the wreckage of the destroyed Wing Gundam Proto Zero, and upgraded with wing binders from the OZ-00MS Tallgeese Flugel. It combines the armament and equipment of the TV version and the EW version, such as having a shield and being able to transform into Neo-Bird Mode.

Developed from the data gathered from the MS-09R4 Psycommu Rick Dom "Schnee Weiss" and the AMX-001 Prototype Qubeley, the Qubeley featured four independently movable shoulder binders, two binders per shoulder, to assist in AMBAC (Active Mass Balance Auto Control), granting phenomenal mobility. Though lacking the full range of motion as the arms and legs, these binders bring the Qubeley's total number of movable limbs up to eight. Furthermore, these binders also contain the Qubeley's primary thrusters. The most notable feature of the Qubeley is that it is the first combat mobile suit to be equipped with a mobile suit-sized psycommu system, which is used to control the new remote controlled weaponry known as "Funnels". The prototype featured a similar system, but its psycommu had not been fully miniaturized and the Funnels were stored in its main body, leaving the prototype with a large body that stood 25 meters tall. The system aboard the Qubeley had been perfected and its ten Funnels were stored in a container located in its rear armor, allowing for quicker deployment and recall. The Qubeley lacks the mega particle cannons of the prototype version, replacing them with a pair of dual-purpose beam guns that can double as beam sabers for close combat. Lastly, the Qubeley is one of the first Zeon mobile suits to use a dual-type optical sensor instead of the traditional mono-eye.

There was another type of Full Armor Gundam with similar model number, the FA-78-1, but it had different details and equipment. Both mobile suits were developed under the ‘Full Armor Operation’, and their differences were a result of experimenting with various systems and equipment. The Full Armor Gundam was fitted with numerous pieces of body armor, a large backpack and had much more weaponry than other mobile suits of its time. Like other mobile suits of the Moore Brotherhood, the Full Armor Gundam had special seals on its joints and large backpack to protect them from the debris drifting in the Thunderbolt Sector. Besides the standard beam sabers, it was also armed with a twin beam rifle, five rocket launchers, a large beam cannon, a 6-tube missile pod and numerous missiles stored in various body armor.Using the two sub-arms on the large backpack, the machine could wield up to four shields, greatly increasing its defensive capabilities. To prevent the weight of the added equipment from reducing the mobile suit's mobility, thrusters and apogee motors were installed on the shoulders, legs and large backpack. The large backpack was also fitted with two rocket boosters, and the Full Armor Gundam's total thrust was considered to be comparable to a high mobility-type mobile suit. The Full Armor Gundam's added body armor, the large backpack and most of the weaponry could be purged when they are damaged or not required, reducing dead weight. After witnessing the power of the Moore Brotherhood's Full Armor Gundam, the Zeon's Living Dead Division, which was operating in the same area, decided to deploy the MS-06R Zaku II High Mobility Type (Reuse "P" Device).

Following its self-destruction and then restoration by the Maganac Corps, the Sandrock was painted in a new bluish-purple color scheme.

GNT-0000/FS 00 Qan[T] Full Saber (aka 00 Qan[T] Full Saber, pronounced "Double-Oh Quanta Full Saber") is a variant of the GNT-0000 00 Qan[T] that appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record. The 00 Qan[T] Full Saber is the 00 Qan[T] equipped with the GN Sword IV Full Saber equipment, which is supposed to function like the GNR-010 0 Raiser, to adjust the synchronization of GNT-0000 00 Qan[T]'s twin drive system. However, since tests showed that the Qan[T]'s GN drives can be be fully synchronized without the need of adjustments, the GN Sword IV Full Saber became unnecessary and is not equipped on the suit even though it has been manufactured. Unlike the backpack-like structure used in the normal 00 Qan[T], a more traditional cone GN Drive chassis is used on the Full Saber. Both the GN Sword IV Full Saber and the GN Shield are physically connected to this alternate backpack in a style more reminiscent of its predecessor 00 Raiser. As a result, the GN Sword IV Full Saber on the right side can help to balance out the GN Shield on the left and thus maintain the suit's balance during combat. The 00 Qan[T] Full Saber setup is also equipped with two new weapons. First is the GN Sword IV, which can transform into 5 different modes for carrying different kinds of attacks. Second is the GN Gunblades, three dagger-like blades attached to the GN Sword IV which can be used in three different forms.

The GN-0000/7S 00 Gundam Seven Sword (aka 00 Gundam Seven Sword, 00 Seven Sword), is a weapons pack/equipment variation for the GN-0000 00 Gundam that appeares in the Mobile Suit Gundam 00V side story. It is later given a additional weapon and re-designated as GN-0000GNHW/7SG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G. With Celestial Being (CB) rebuilding their organization after their defeat in A.D. 2308, they began development of the 3.5 and 4th generation Gundams. The lone 4th generation Gundam, the GN-0000 00 Gundam, had undergone continuous beta testing of its experimental Twin Drive System by members of CB's engineering team and Tieria Erde. The original 00 Gundam was made as a close combat mobile suit, normally equipped with its GN Sword II. However, CB soon realized that the 00's basic arms would not be enough to counter the rapidly advancing mobile suits developed by the Earth Sphere Federation. Taking inspiration from the GN-001 Gundam Exia's diverse Seven Sword System, CB engineers created the Seven Sword package for the 00 Gundam, improving the units effectiveness in close combat while also attempting to stabilize the Twin Drive System. The original Seven Sword System was designed specifically for the Gundam Exia. Armed with one GN Sword, two GN Blades, two GN Beam Sabers and two GN Beam Daggers, the package was meant bring out the full close combat fighting strength of the Exia. Coupled with the close combat fighting style of its Gundam Meister Setsuna F. Seiei, Exia served its role as the close combat Gundam prior to is disappearance after A.D. 2308. Seeking to do the same with the 00 Gundam, CB engineers incorporated a mix of technologies into the 00 Gundam's Seven Sword armament. Befitting its name, the 00 Gundam Seven Sword was armed with 7 close combat weapons; the experimental GN Katars, the standardized GN Beam Sabers, the long and short GN Sword IIs, and the large GN Buster Sword. The 00's GN Beam Sabers were significantly improved from the Exia's. Originally, Exia had a set of four beam blades, a pair of daggers and a pair of normal beam sabers. While they were helpful in a few situations, the sabers' lengths were non-adjustable for differing combat situations. With that in mind, CB engineers created the beam sabers to be adjustable in length, increasing their overall efficiency in combat. The GN Katars are mounted on the sides of the 00 Seven Sword's kneecaps, which must be exchanged with the standard white kneecaps to properly holster the weapons. The design is taken from the famous Indian weapon, as well as the 00's GN Shields. The GN Katars are meant as push daggers for stabbing into an enemy. To enhance their capabilities, CB engineers equipped the katars with GN Particle infused blade edges, consisting of the material used in GN Condensers. While attacking, the particles surrounding the katar are converted to heat, and the heat is transferred to the object the katar comes into contact with. However, the heat generated by the particles can be too much for the katars themselves to tolerate. The experimental weapons inspired a line of other condenser infused weaponry for the next generation of Gundams.Taking a design cue from the Exia's GN Blades, CB engineers created the GN Sword II Long and GN Sword II Short. While both swords are physical exaggerations of the aforementioned blades, they vastly differ in function. The GN Sword II is more of a traditional broadsword, able to switch between rifle and sword mode faster than the original Exia could. The long GN Sword II focuses on ranged combat, the only such weapon in the 00 Seven Sword arsenal to do so. The drawbacks are that the long sword uses more particles and a decreased rapid fire capability. In contrast, the GN Sword II short was developed analogous to the GN Short Blade from the Exia. The shortest sword in the Seven Sword armament, the Short Sword's blade tip is attached to a wire, which can be shot out towards an enemy and retracted quickly. Despite these armaments, the signature weapon of the Seven Sword arsenal is the GN Buster Sword. At nearly the same height as the 00 Gundam, the GN Buster Sword is a massive weapon which serves multiple purposes. CB engineer Ian Vashti analyzed the Buster Sword of a GNX-607T/AC GN-XII Sword captured by Fon Spaak in the sword's development. Normally stored on the left GN Drive mount, the GN Buster Sword can expand its frame to particle vents to create a massive GN Field. The scope of the field is so large that it can protect allied suits. When the sword is actively wielded, it is a top class melee weapon. Though the array of weapons were tailored to suit the fighting style of Setsuna F. Seiei, the Meister as well as his Gundam, had been missing during the Seven Swords' development. On top of that, the pack did not stabilize the highly unstable Twin Drive System, and a separate support unit, the GNR-010 0 Raiser, was given a higher priority than the Seven Swords. However, CB hadn't forgotten about the Seven Swords configuration. After the battle with the Innovators, the 00 Gundam had taken some damage, but the greater concern was the fact that its GN Drives were critically damaged in the duel between the GN-000 0 Gundam and the GN-001REII Gundam Exia Repair II. With the 5th generation Gundams in construction, CB developed a modified version of the 00 Gundam Seven Sword, the GN-0000GNHW/7SG 00 Gundam Seven Sword/G as a test-bed for future weapons and systems.

The RX-75 Guntank , also known as the RX-75-4 Guntank , is a mobile suit from the Mobile Suit Gundam television series. The RX-75 Guntank was the first prototype Earth Federation Forces mobile suit developed by Operation V. However, it was said to be closer to a tank rather than a mobile suit. A number of companies such as Takim and Hervic participated in its development. The Guntank had the torso and arms of a mobile suit, but possessed caterpillar treads for legs. Initially, it was designed to be piloted by a crew of two, with a gunner in the canopy-style cockpit on the head and a driver in another cockpit in the torso. However, it was later changed to be controlled by a single pilot in the canopy-style cockpit. Like all "Operation V" mobile suits, the Guntank used the Core Block System. Its reactor is a hybrid type of nuclear reactors and gas turbines, and its output is insufficient for powering beam weapons. The Guntank's main weapons are twin 120mm cannons, which are effective at long and medium ranges. Its arms have four-barrel missile launchers instead of hands, and they provided good cover fire against enemy tanks and aircraft, but are less effective against enemy mobile suits. A major flaw of the Guntank is its inability to turn its torso, making it difficult to aim the cannons at moving targets, as the Guntank must reposition itself. Another major flaw is that its design was primarily for ground combat, resulting in it having poor maneuverability in space.

It appears in the Mobile Suit Gundam 00V side story. 00 XN Raiser carries a pair of GN Buster Sword IIIs that can combine into one large sword. The additional pair of manipulator arms on the XN Raiser allows the 00 XN Raiser to carry more weapons, as well as grant it another pair of arms for combat use. XN Raiser's binders do not dock into the 00 Gundam's twin GN Drives; instead, they fold up when the XN Raiser is docked onto the 00 Gundam. The entire system docks onto the 00 Gundam's back as a weapons backpack.

The Gundam Astray Turn Red is a mobile suit created by Valerio Valeri for his own use. However, since the suit is fully controlled by the combat AI called "80", he does not need to do any actual piloting, although he still sits in the cockpit. The suit has a custom head unit and backpack. Its main body is constructed using MBF-P0X Gundam Astray Noir's spare parts and its body color is basically a reverse of MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame's (hence the suit's name). The Turn Red is usually armed with a pair of head-mounted CIWS and a pair of Tactical Arms on its back, but it can also be equipped with the same type of beam rifle, beam sabers and shield as the Red Frame. It also carries additional power packs for the Tactical Arms like MBF-P03secondL Gundam Astray Blue Frame Second L. The mobile suit is supposed to be used alongside CAT1-VGR Hyperion GR and CAT1-VGL Hyperion GL, both are commandeered by the Turn Red itself and serve as its protectors during battle. The Turn Red is installed with the Trio System to improve its cooperation with the other two AI-controlled suits.

$74.00

GN-001/hs-A01 Gundam Avalanche Exia (aka Gundam Avalanche Exia, Avalanche Exia) is a variant of the GN-001 Gundam Exia appearing in the side stories Mobile Suit Gundam 00V and Mobile Suit Gundam 00V: Battlefield Record. The Gundam Avalanche Exia is the Celestial Being's Gundam Exia equipped with additional high mobility unit known as "Avalanche Unit". The Gundams have exceptional flight control capabilities through the use of GN Particles, but their speed in the atmosphere and in space are generally inferior to that of specialized high-speed units such as aircrafts. Celestial Being's general mechanic, Ian Vashti, designed and created the Avalanche Unit to grant Exia a high level of mobility comparable to an aircraft's. This concept of utilizing a mobile suit like an aircraft is very similar to the AEU's, and might have been because Ian was previously the chief mechanic of AEU's armed forces and is highly skilled in such utilization of mobile suit. The multiple parts that make up the Avalanche Unit are equipped with GN Condensers and by discharging all their stored GN Particles through various verniers simultaneously, the Avalanche Exia can achieve a higher level of mobility. Additionally, during high-speed movements, the Avalanche Exia's forearm and shoulder parts are linked together in a quasi-transformation like manner. This reduces air resistance and generates a thin GN Field on the machine's surface to control the airflow on the exterior. The name, Avalanche, carries the meaning of "passing by in an instant, consuming everything in its path" and like its name, the mobile suit can outspeed the latest aerial combat mobile suits such as the SVMS-01 Union Flag, AEU-09 AEU Enact and even its fellow Gundam, the transformable, high-speed GN-003 Gundam Kyrios. The "hs" in its model number stands for "High Speed" and the "A01" means "Avalanche type Unit 1".The drawbacks of the Avalanche Exia are that it takes an hour to fully charge the Avalanche Unit's GN Condensers with GN Particles, which will be completely discharged in 10 minutes, limiting the use of the mobile suit to an extremely brief period of time and restricting its travel range. Even so, the Avalanche Exia still has high utility value as it allows the Exia to reach its combat location swiftly. While the one-hour charging time seems to make the Avalanche Exia unusable for unplanned missions, this issue is resolved to a certain degree as Ian always keeps the Avalanche Unit's GN Condensers fully charged. It is possible to extend the discharge time of the GN Particles and increase the travel range by concentrating the Avalanche Exia's supply of GN Particles to the verniers as well as lighten the Gundam by removing its armaments. The Avalanche Unit's GN Condensers are larger than regular ones and can be charged with more GN Particles. Unlike the regular GN Condensers that can display information about their status on the surface, the Avalanche Unit's GN Condensers are completely internalized and so their status are instead displayed on the Gundam's chest GN Condenser. As the Avalanche Unit's primary purpose is for high-speed movement, it does not come with additional weaponry. All the weapons of the normal Exia remain usable by the Avalanche Exia, but due to its higher speed, the Exia's characteristic seven swords have improved penetration and destructive power. To prevent the seven swords from being a hindrance during high-speed movements, they are all stored on the Avalanche Exia's upper body, with the majority mounted on a pair of weapon holders known as "Weapon Arms".The Avalanche Exia was seen relatively early during Celestial Being's armed interventions, and the Avalanche Unit's weight is kept below 5 tons as that was initially thought to be the maximum possible weight without negatively affecting the Gundam's balance. However, this assumption was later found to be wrong, and additional equipment is developed for the Avalanche Exia, resulting in the GN-001/hs-A01D Gundam Avalanche Exia', which is better adapted for operating in space. To prevent the Avalanche Unit from being a dead weight after use, its parts can be instantaneously purged from the Exia prior to the Gundam engaging in close combat.

The F91 Gundam F91 (F91 ガンダムF91 Effu Kujūichi Gandamu Fōmyura Nainti Wan?) is a mobile suit introduced in the movie Mobile Suit Gundam F91, in which it was piloted by Seabook Arno.[6][7] Harrison Madin piloted two production type units in custom colors. Based on F90V Gundam F90 VSBR Type, the F91 is a prototype machine created under SNRI’s ‘Formula Project’. The Formula Project, also known as F Project, is a miniaturized MS development program meant to address technological problems such as the upsizing and increasing cost of MS, and to rectify Anaheim Electronics’ monopolization of the MS industry. The F91 was developed to reached the ‘performance limit tidemark of present day MS’, and as such, its capabilities exceed that of contemporary machines. SNRI only referred to it by its model number, F91. It was later given the code name "Gundam F91" by Space Ark captain Leahlee Edaberry as its face resembled the Gundam’s.Befitting its smaller size, the Gundam F91 has a small reactor located in its enlarged backpack, surrounded by high-output thrusters. Despite its reduced size, the reactor has a high output, allowing the suit to drive multiple beam weapons including a beam rifle, two beam sabers, a beam launcher, a beam shield, and a pair of variable speed beam rifles (also known as VSBRs). While the first two beam weapons are common among contemporary mobile suits, the last three are of new designs. The beam launcher is a beam weapon equivalent of a projectile firing bazooka. The beam shield generates a highly defensive energy shield to block beam and projectile attacks. The VSBR is the Gundam F91’s most powerful weaponry, and is capable of firing beams of different speed to achieve either high destructive power or high penetrative power. Other weapons include two Vulcan guns and two mega machine cannons. With its reduced size and the increase in output, the Gundam F91 has a drastically improved power-to-weight ratio, allowing it to attain higher mobility than MS of earlier eras. Its mobility is on par with the miniaturized MS deployed later by the Crossbone Vanguard. It also has special features such as the Bio-Computer, MCA (Multiple Construction Armor) structure, and the MEPE (Metal Peel-off Effect) phenomenon. The Bio-Computer is installed in the suit’s head and feeds battle data directly to the pilot, but only a Newtype pilot can draw out its full potential. Accompanying the installment of the Bio-Computer, a head-mounted coolant and heat discharging system were also implemented, with the face guard opening to discharge heat under certain circumstance. The MCA structure incorporates electrical functions into the suit’s armor, allowing for more efficient use of the F91's limited internal space. The MEPE is a byproduct of the MCA structure. It helps the suit to dissipate excess heat by shedding the outer layers of its armor, and in the process, creates afterimages with mass to confuse enemy pilots, as well as the sensors of enemy machines. However, the MEPE is only activated under specific conditions. The Gundam F91’s high performance is not without drawbacks; its full operating mode is too much for normal pilots to handle. Thus, limiters were installed to make the suit more manageable; only a Newtype pilot can handle the full operating mode. When the Bio-Computer - via the Bio-Sensor in the pilot’s linear seat - determines that a Newtype is at the controls, it will disable the limiters and allow activation of the full operating mode. In this mode, the suit performs at its maximum potential and forced cooling is activated. This results in the suit radiating heat from all over its body: the face guard opens to vent heat, the shoulder-mounted heat radiations fins are deployed, the retractable thruster units on the back of the lower legs and the associated fins are activated, and the MEPE phenomenon occurs. All these are to reduce damage to the machine caused by movement overload during the full operating mode, and to protect the Bio-Computer that is sensitive to high heat. It is also worth noting that the front grill that takes up most of the chest and abdomen is a heat sink. After the war with the Crossbone Vanguard, an unspecified but extremely small numbers of Gundam F91s were manufactured. The MCA, MEPE, and full spec Bio-Computer were omitted from these production type units; inclusion of these technologies in the prototype unit was more for experimental purposes. Despite this, the catalog specifications of these machines are still comparable to the prototype’s. Although the face guard opening mechanism is retained in all production type units, only certain units for ace pilots (such as Harrison Madin’s) can access the full operating mode through improvements in the cooling system and various devices. However, these ace-used units still do not have the MEPE function due to the enhanced cooling system, as well as the change in the materials used in the final layer of armor.
